The Horses Welcome network is expanding and both horse and rider can now enjoy a warm welcome at over forty comfortable Horses Welcome B&Bs and self-catering cottages that have been assessed by the British Horse Society to make sure that the stabling, grazing and other facilities for horses are safe and of a required standard. Whether you wish to bring your horse on holiday or travel to compete, Horses Welcome make it easy to find suitable grazing and a comfortable stable.
Horses Welcome members have fantastic riding right on their doorstep and are happy to help you choose the best routes in their area. For an easy way to plan your holiday and find your favourite horse B&B just log on to www.horseswelcome.org. You will find a detailed description and pictures of each property as well as holiday ideas and lots of tips for riders including what to take with you.
Riders can now journey for days at a time on old drove roads, roman roads, disused railways and other tracks, which form the basis of the 350km South of Scotland Countryside Trails network including the Tweed Trails. Go in search of history and learn about folk tales, myths and legends – riding these ancient routes is like taking a step back in time! You will find detailed descriptions of these routes and more on www.ride-scotland.co.uk including downloadable maps and horse B&Bs in the area.
